All successful and happy companies have a vision.
The vision of a company “defines the optimal desired future state – the mental picture – of what an organization wants to achieve over time”.
I believe this is very important for people as well.
Having a vision, for a person, means that if you close your eyes you are able to imagine yourself in the future, 5-10 years ahead. It means to sort of know where your life is going. I say “sort of” because you never really know where you’re life is going, and attaching yourself completely to your vision would make you unhappy and unaware of life’s surprises. However, on the opposite side, living without a vision will not help your path unroll.
The present is also very important because the future will always manifest itself under a present moment. To have a vision doesn’t mean to neglect the present; in fact it helps to shape it. It gives the present instructions, it helps it take the direction you want it to based on your vision.
If you feel stuck as if you were wondering in a dark forest and don’t know which way to go, maybe its because you don’t actually know where you’re headed. I often think that you feel unhappy or confused when you lack a vision. Things don’t go the way you want them to or things just don’t happen because you are not giving life the right instructions.
There are of course many variables, but a big part is played by the fact that you don’t know where you’re going and this is why your path is obscure. You cannot control life and you shouldn’t want to do that, but I think that to a certain degree, you can direct it. You can do this by closing our eyes and imagining your life in the future.
I encourage everyone to have a vision.
In your vision ONLY include things that make you happy. Allow your vision to change and always have an updated version in mind. Do not attach to your vision’s details and allow surprises.
Ultimately, let the vision guide your present steps.
